Our clients were a retired couple who wanted the house primarily for entertaining. The open floor plan is designed to maximize views to Mt. Tam to the west around to the Golden Gate Bridge to the northeast. Privacy and view protection for the neighbors was also a consideration. The two gable-roofed masses, a bedroom wing, and a public/living space wing, are separated and defined by the flat-roofed stair hall.
